Explore the atmospheric riverside town of Takayama with its winding streets, 16th century Edo period architecture, traditional wooden houses, craft shops and galleries, accompanied by your knowledgeable English-speaking guide. During the walk, you’ll be introduced to popular local food and drink, such as Hida beef, sticky rice cakes on skewers and locally produced sake. After a satisfying lunch, you’ll take a short 15-minute taxi ride to the small town of Hida Furukawa, north of Takayama. From here you set off on a guided cycle tour of Hida’s stunning countryside, taking a relaxing ride past farming villages and paddy fields, while your guide gives you an insight into local daily life.
