The climate in Crete is warm and sunny for the majority of the year with the risk of the odd shower of rain and some cooler periods over the winter. From April/May onwards the weather settles but it can sometimes be cool in the evenings. By mid/end of May, the weather generally settles in a pattern of long hot sunny days and balmy evenings especially in July and August when it can be very hot. Rain is unlikely but it can happen from time to time. May and October are particularly pleasurable months.
To start planning your holiday to Paradise Island Villas
An intimate family run boutique resort of just 12 villas, Paradise Island Villas is a real jewel. The resort is a perfect base for independent families to explore the cultural sites and beautiful beaches around Crete.
Greeted on arrival by your hosts Eleni and Paul, you can't help but be overwhelmed by the friendly and helpful service at Paradise Island Villas. Guests of all ages are made to feel welcome and part of the family. Discreetly tucked away in Anissara, ten minute's walk from the sea, the resort is an ideal retreat from which to explore the rest of the island and some of its beautiful beaches.
Clad in bougainvillea, the 12 villas are all individually designed with their own private garden and heated pool. Ideal for couples and families looking for peace and seclusion, they have fully equipped kitchens and terraces for eating alfresco. Grocery shopping can be organised on request, but for guests looking to escape cooking, eating in Paradise Island Villa's restaurant Ambrosia is a gourmet experience. The breakfast menu offers a huge and tempting selection of European, American and local dishes and lunch and dinner sees Mediterranean and Greek cuisine using local produce. Fresh meat, fish, local vegetables, and all meals are prepared using the hotel's own olive oil from their trees, and each day the chefs prepare the "dish of the day", featuring home made Greek and Cretan recipes. And once a week, there is a poolside Greek barbecue. The lounge bar by the pool offers a long list of cocktails, if you fancy a change from your own private pool. There are many very good local tavernas if you like to eat out, so just ask for a recommendation.
Guests can enjoy an extensive range of spa treatments, all of which are based on traditional home made recipes, with local herbs and olive oil, developed exclusively for the hotel. Treatments are offered in the privacy of your villa either indoors or outdoors in your garden. As well as the two main pools, there is a fitness room and a tennis court. If you'd to explore the island or spend a day to two doing some water sports, the staff are more than happy to advise or help arrange it all.
Named after Greek gods and goddesses, all 12 individually designed villas using local materials, have views towards both the sea and mountains. Each villa has its own good sized lawned garden with a small Jacuzzi pool (which can heated on request for a local charge). Ranging from one bedroom to three bedrooms, they can accommodate couples and families comfortably, and are all fully air-conditioned. Minimalist in design and decorated in distinctive earthy tones, they are spread over two floors, some with spiral staircases. The villas come complete with satellite TV, WiFi, CD, DVD player with complimentary DVD library, safe deposit box and a fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, coffee machine and a large fridge. All bathrooms are made from polished Greek marble and have bathrobes, slippers and hairdryers.

Paradise Island Villas is certainly a home away from home and perfectly suited to families looking to explore the wonderful Island of Crete. For a modest sized property, the public spaces have plenty of character, stylish in design the bar and pool area have a particularly Ibizan vibe about them. The hotel really comes into its own though once you meet the team, nothing is too much trouble and they are quite literally a fountain of knowledge and ideas when it comes to planning your trips and excursions. My personal favourite was however, the food..the slipper lobster linguine was truly amazing!

If you are an active family wanting a home from home during a stay on this beautiful and fascinating island Paradise Island would be a great choice. A full kitchen and your own little garden which includes a pool with hydrojet means you can be comfortable and self contained or choose to swim in one of the two communal pools or enjoy a drink or meal around the main stylish and friendly hub of the hotel.
Enjoy a game of tennis whilst the kids play in the shaded playground right next to you or work out in the little gym. Eleni, Paul and the team have it as their absolute priority that you and your family have a wonderful stay and are full of helpful advice on to allow you to achieve that. Eleni will make sure you only visit the best, authentic local restaurants and if you want to go horse riding in the beach or the mountains shell make sure you are looked after by the best stables. Nothing you ask for will be too much trouble for the team and they pride themselves on really making sure families are well catered for in your villa you can have stairgates, sterilisers, microwave, buggies, baby bath the list goes on! You can pack lightly and feel at home here whilst being sure you and the kids will feel comfortable and really well looked after.

A quaint property set about 850 metres from the beach you really get the feeling of been in local Crete. The property is surrounded by their own olive groves and Eleni gets the team together in the winter to harvest. A great location for exploring and there is lots to do around the area including golf, horse riding, hiking and boat trips.

In our house, the dilemma of holidaying with preschool age children is standalone villa / apartment vs hotel resort. Self-catering accommodation appeals so I can make baby purees in the kitchen and the rooming means children are in separate sleeping quarters). At the same time my husband and I like being in a hotel so that we can be lazy, order room service and also be sociable with other families down at the pool. Paradise Island Villas bridges the gap! This intimate, boutique villa concept is ideal for families with the option of one, two and three bedroom villas, all cocooned in the attentive care of Eleni and Paul, who make you feel like you are staying with friends. The 5 star hotel amenities mean every box is ticked, offering ultimate flexibility.
Every care has been taken by the owners to ensure young childrens comfort and safety, with some really sweet little touches. It should be noted that although stair gates are used in the villas, there are some precarious steps that arent possible to babyproof entirely, so speak to your travel consultant to assess this if your tot is at that crucial age.

If you want the best self-catering experience in Crete and the benefits of a small boutique hotel, then Paradise Island Villas would be the perfect choice. Choose one of the 12 independent villas - all of which come with a private pool and small garden. There are five different types in a variety of sizes and styles, with something to suit everyone. For couples the Senior Villas have one bedroom and a sofa bed and for families, there are four options with a choice of either two or three bedrooms, two of which have additional sofa beds.
However, the best thing about Paradise Island is the incredibly welcoming staff. Eleni, Paul and the team are always on hand and provide the most comprehensive wrap-around service I have seen anywhere. Nothing is too much trouble and the range of activities which can be organised is endless. The Ambrosia Restaurant and lounge bar serve the most delicious and varied menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner and for families, everything you could need can be provided before you arrive. You can even leave the pool toys at home. Bliss!

Lovely hotel, comfortable accommodation, wonderful service and food in a not-great area. No specific child care but very attentive to our son and pool toys, kids tennis racquet, DVDs supplied. The area the hotel was in really wasn't really great. We did some driving to other parts of the island that had more on offer. There was a cute little beach nearby that the owners recommended and a restaurant too, but we would never have found them on our own - the main village and beach front were not great.

It was excellent on most levels especially the warm welcome. Whilst they had done so much to make the villa child friendly with stair gates etc. there wasn't much that could be done about all the tiled, sharp-cornered steps, spiral
stairs, which can be slippy-when-wet floors. Otherwise EXCELLENT

The hotel exceeded our expectations. Food good quality and abundant. Service was fabulous and personal. We would highly recommend a stay here. Attention to detail across every aspect of our stay was impeccable

Paradise Island was brilliant! They looked after us so well, everything was effortless. There was an extensive menu too. The place was amazing, but I don't want too many people to know. Such a relaxing break and they couldn't have
done more for us.
Claire Leigh gave us amazing help - I didn't give her much time or the biggest budget, but she really was incredible at giving us a holiday we all adored. She made me feel very confident about the recommendation she was making too. I had heard good things about Scott Dunn from friends, but I was anxious about ringing as I thought I would be overpaying for this service and actually I felt it was pretty good value for money in the end.

You are greeted with the warmest of welcomes at paradise island villas, Eleni and Paul spend all their time getting to know their guests and recommending restaurants and places to see. Consisting of just 12 villas there is a very intimate family feel.
The villas are of an excellent standard and come well equipped, especially for children, with baby gates, cots, monitors and pool toys all as standard. There's a real sense of the best of both worlds here with the opportunity to self-cater in your own villa but also to experience the incredible food in the restaurant at very reasonable prices. There's a communal pool as well as individual pools with each villa meaning you always have that feeling of space. A relaxing atmosphere with excellent service makes it a wonderful holiday destination.

Paradise Island Villas offers the perfect combination of the atmosphere and facilities of a hotel resort, but with the bonus of being able to head back to the privacy of your own villa and pool. It comprises a collection of 12 lovely villas as well as the resort hub with two communal pools of different depths, a wonderful restaurant offering wonderful and traditional A La Carte menus, a tennis court, fitness room and a concierge to advise you on any day trips, restaurants and to answer your questions.
The villas range from 1 to 3 bedrooms, all with their own private pool and are named after one of the 12 Greek Gods and decorated accordingly. This gives you the opportunity to cook for yourselves, enjoy room service and the option to have spa treatments privately at your own villa. You can walk to the beach in just 10 minutes, but the atmosphere at Paradise Island Villas will make it very tempting to stay all day. Eleni and Paul are the perfect hosts offering a truly personal feel to the holiday, catering for your every need from the moment you check in. Families are extremely welcome and very well catered for with a childrens play area, the security of a gated complex, a 400 strong DVD library, the childrens menu as well as the villas being equipped with all the necessary equipment - baby monitor, cots, bed guards, baby bath, sterilisers and all the usual bits that are a burden to bring with you! Paradise Island Villas puts a relaxed, personal and unpretentious twist on a luxurious holiday.

Eleni and all of the team at Paradise Island Villas really are the perfect holiday hosts. Their warm welcome on arrival continued through our stay, and it was clear that they had already built a great relationship with all of the other guests. The aptly named villas really are the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday; they offer fantastic privacy with their own garden and pool, yet the communal areas present an equally intimate setting to mingle with your fellow holidaymakers. The Ambrosia restaurant has great varied, and very affordable menus, including a great choice of childrens dishes, and a cocktail menu you will definitely want to sample! It is definitely worth hiring a car for a few days during your stay ask Eleni to recommend some day trips and places to go, her local knowledge is fantastic and she is incredibly happy to help; nothing is too much trouble.
