Santorini Holidays
Santorini is possibly the most picturesque of the Cycladic islands, famed for its spectacular sunsets, whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and legendary romantic appeal. Beaches of multicoloured volcanic sand can be found in the south-east of the island while along the western coast calm, clear waters lap the pebble beaches.
Santorini is one of the natural wonders of the Aegean, formed by a cataclysmic volcanic eruption 3,600 years ago. Today traditional whitewashed towns and villages cling to the clifftops on the western coastline with picture-perfect views of the lagoon and the island of Thirasia.
The charming main town of Thira boasts a good range of tavernas and gourmet restaurants, with fresh fish a particular highlight. Dotted along the cliff edge chic open-air lounge bars are the perfect place to sip a pre-dinner cocktail while enjoying Greece's most photographed sunset.
At the northern tip of island is the picturesque small town of Oia, home to narrow cobbled streets lined with stylish boutiques and smart jewellery shops. The town's white-washed facades and striking blue rooftops have become an iconic image of Greece, and the view across the caldera are simply breathtaking.
