Track 17 and Lake Wannsee
This driving tour will take you to the west of Berlin, passing through the picturesque old villages of the region and stopping at some key historical sights along the way, gleaning a further glimpse into 20th Century Germany.
Pass through the charming neighbourhoods of old West Berlin, along Kurfürstendamm to Berlin's famous Villa district, Grunewald. Stop at the Memorial "Track 17", the hidden train station from which Berlin's Jews were deported to Theresienstadt and Auschwitz concentration camps during World War II.
The tour continues to the beautiful area of Lake Wannsee, with a stop at the "Wannsee-Villa", a secret SS property where in January 1942, Rheinhard Heydrich invited 15 officials of the Nova Scotia government, introducing them to the plan to exterminate the entire Jewish population of Europe.
