The Algarve has a mild climate with more than 300 days of sunshine a year. The climate in the Algarve is generally warm and sunny in May with the risk of the odd shower of rain. Sometimes it can be cool in the evenings. By June the weather generally settles in a pattern of long hot sunny days and balmy evenings especially in July and August. Rain is unlikely but it can happen from time to time. Throughout the summer months it can be windy especially during the afternoon. June and September are particularly pleasurable months.

|Pine Cliffs Golf||
The immaculate Pine Cliffs Golf Course lies perched 200 feet above the golden sands and blue water of the Atlantic Ocean.
This is one of the country’s most original golf courses, built in a pinewood setting, with tree lined fairways running parallel along the Atlantic Ocean, giving it's guests breathtaking views along the Algarvian coastline. Architect Martin Hawtree’s main concern was to keep the natural surroundings as it was before the course was built.
The jewel of this perfectly kept course is the Par 3 sixth hole. The championship tee, known as the Devil’s Parlour, is built over a ravine that requires a 198 metre carrying shot over the cliffs to a deep but narrow green.

For beginners it's the ideal venue to ingrain good habits, or correct the bad ones before it's too late!! Hitting from the latest forgiving Astroturf mats is an exceptionally pleasant experience especially when combined with the teaching methods of the PGA golf pro team, placing the emphasis on enjoyment and fun.
Sharpening individual game skills such as putting, bunker play, chip shots and tee shots is one of The Golf Academy's specialties - using expressly patented and enjoyable exercises to hone the player's technique to get more fun and enjoyment from the game.

Pine cliffs is an excellent family holiday destination, particularly because of the ease of getting there and no time change! The resort is great value and caters for all ages with plenty of pools, the Porto Pirata kids facilities, excellent golf and tennis opportunities and our fantastic Explorers kids club in the centre of the resort. It was great to finally see the kids club in action, the activities the Voyagers and Pioneers took part in were so much fun; from a golf lesson, to a cooking class, to the high ropes they wont be disappointed! We stayed in a 3 bedroom residence which was very spacious and the fully equipped kitchen is just ideal for families. Casa Pine Cliffs certainly houses the best pool on the resort and the OGrill terrace is a lovely setting to enjoy your delicious breakfast. At the foot of the cliff, there is a lovely stretch of sandy beach but be prepared for a few wooden steps to get to the beach front!

Really appreciated the support of Shanelle, particularly in settling my daughter Josephine as it was the first time she had been left in any kind of kids club nursery and Shanelle filled us with confidence and definitely won Josephine over which is no mean feat! It meant a few hours of relaxation for those days which was so appreciated. Love your kids clubs!
Macdonald Family - July 2019 (Guest)
I have used a few kids clubs (including the Pine Cliffs own) and seen many and this has far out shone them all -the friendliness and helpfulness of Reece, Kelsey and all the childcare team has been brilliant. As a Mum of a 6 and 4year old, I can honestly say it has been the first holiday I felt fully assured my children are safe, happy and well looked after and that I could 100% relax!!
Rigby Family - September 2019 (Guest)
We had a really wonderful holiday - the whole thing was very easy thanks to your help with booking and the great service we had from the resort and the Scott Dunn staff there. I wouldnt have believed it was possible to have such a relaxing holiday with a two and a half year old, but she loved Explorers Club so we got to have a real break. She had never been to a holiday kids club before so I wasnt expecting her to like it, but when we picked her up after lunch and asked if she wanted to go to the pool or the beach she just pointed back inside!
The Residences were ideal for us - lots of space, very close to the family friendly buffet restaurant, and a lovely pool. The building we were in, number 3 was ideal too as it was close to the restaurant and pool. I had thought the Residences might feel too far from the centre of the resort, but it wasnt a long walk and we enjoyed feeling a bit more secluded. The resort itself is gorgeous - I remember saying on our first day that it was exactly as beautiful as the photos.
We have recommended the resort and Scott Dunn to friends already, and will certainly be back.

Arriving at Pine cliffs is as hassle free as it gets for a summer holiday! With no time difference, and just a 30-minute private transfer it works really well when travelling with children. There is something for everyone when it comes to accommodation. The residences are highly recommended for their spacious two- and three-bedroom apartments, complete with kitchens and washing machines. For families with younger children I would recommend the new garden suites which are located next to our new Scott Dunn explorers kids club and centrally in the resort so its easy for restaurants and trips to the beach. The new Scott Dunn Explorers club is next to the hotels playground and childrens swimming pool, its fully equipped with all the latest toys, crafts, fancy dress and outdoor games too. With 9 pools to choose from, and a sandy beach theres plenty of relaxation to be done, but for more active families there are lots of activities to take up too such as golf, tennis, cycling and water sports in the peak months. I really enjoyed a stroll down to the beach, but this does involve steps so may not be suitable with a pram. Theres plenty of dining options in the resort to suit all tastes, and some lovely local restaurants within walking distance the pizzeria being a good family option. For parents who fancy something special, there are lots of gourmet restaurants just a short drive away and the Scott Dunn babysitters can look after the little ones.

Arriving at Pine Cliffs after a short 30-minute journey with no time difference from Faro Airport you are made to feel totally welcome and completely at ease, especially if you are travelling with little ones! The views over the cliffs and the vast expanse of gardens and greenery were the first thing I noticed here. There is plenty of space to enjoy your time, with nine swimming pools to choose between, it is far from feeling cramped! The same applies with the accommodation on offer - the Residences we would recommend highly for the space and facilities but would also suggest the wonderful new Garden Suites and Ocean Suites, which are centrally located with a modern and contemporary style. There really is something for everyone when it comes to activities on offer here, from the Annabel Croft Tennis Academy, a 9 hole golf course to enjoy and a beautiful gold flag beach too for some watersports you are definitely spoilt for choice when it comes to the activities on offer but one top tip is to hire a bike for your stay to get around the resort, it makes it fun for families and is a great way to get around. The Scott Dunn Explorers Club is brand new and right in the middle of the resort where the Scott Dunn Nannies have lots of fun activities planned throughout the day and are available for babysitting too when needed. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from which is why we wouldn't suggest half board and we have a great list of local restaurants just outside of the resort suitable for families, and a couple of special gourmet restaurants for a special occasion only ten minutes away by car.

Pine Cliffs is a fantastic resort for families with all ages of children. For younger children you have plenty of kids pools, an amazing Pirate Ship play area and the Scott Dunn Explorers Club specialising in childcare from 4-months+. For older children the resort can offer a huge sandy beach, amazing golf & tennis facilities, Scott Dunn Explorers Club and a brand-new Mimo Cooking School. When the kids are in the Explorers Club then you can head to the award-wining spa or try out one of the many delicious restaurants.

From the moment I stepped on court with head pro Paulo Machado it was clear I was in safe hands. While stories from training with former world No.1s Ivan Lendl and Yevgeny Kafelnikov during his playing days perhaps werent exactly what I needed to hear while I was scraping the rust off my 41-year-old backhand, it was clear this likeable Portuguese former pro knew the game inside out. Years spent playing the tour mean his game is up to scratch (trust me, this guys a human ball machine) and recent years spent working with Polands top national juniors has honed his understanding of how young players improve. And if performance tennis isnt your thing, heck, hes just a really lovely guy wholl keep you smiling on court. We talked for hours. His philosophy for tennis is more a philosophy for life.
Paulo heads up the resorts relatively new Annabel Croft Tennis Academy, the second of the former British No.1s international portfolio having launched her first in Cyprus. Croft, and business partner Steve Cockell, have created a tennis centre that can cater for any age and standard of player. The academys small and friendly team will whip your game into shape on the two clay and three cement courts using techniques such as the X Factor and Death Drill. Steve, an English pro with years of on-court experience himself, and a menacing Portuguese supermarket trolley full of balls gave me a taste of X Factor. Fifteen minutes of that under a warm Portuguese sun and all I was good for was a fluffy white robe and the hotel jacuzzi.
Which brings me nicely on to the resorts other first-rate facilities. Eating and drinking can be taken in any one of the 12 restaurants and bars, and accommodation is a choice between the five-star 215-room Sheraton Algarve Hotel, or one of a number of apartment or townhouse options scattered throughout the immaculate, wonderfully serene grounds. The Pine Cliffs Vacation Club Golf Suites comprise 78 two and three-bedroom apartments overlooking the resorts nine-hole golf course, theres Pine Cliffs Village - 45 townhouses and three villas which have their own private gardens and pool - and Pine Cliffs Residence, 154 two and three-bedroom luxury apartments. The resorts name, as you may have guessed, is derived from its location, perched high up on the dramatic orange cliff tops that overlook Falesia beach, accessed from the picturesque pine tree-themed gardens by a brilliantly simple but effective panoramic elevator. An elevator to a beach? Why doesnt the world have more of those?
As well as the golf, tennis, beach and Atlantic Ocean, theres a huge focus on childrens activities with the kind of facilities that helped Pine Cliffs be named Portugals Leading Family Resort in the World Travel Awards four years running from 2009-2012. The 7,000-metre-square childrens village (with two life-size wooden pirate ships and its own swimming pool) has to be seen to be believed, and this safe and spotless designated kids area also features an 18-hole mini golf course.
Running alongside the nine-hole course that brings in the golfing crowd, theres a first-rate academy featuring driving range, putting green and chipping green, a 4km jogging track, luxury spa, five outdoor swimming pools to choose between, and a health and fitness club within the hotel that boasts an indoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi.
Portugal is amazingly good value, but luxury resorts are pretty thin on the ground. Pine Cliffs is worth seeking out 10 minutes and a world away from Albufeira, its set amind conifers on a outcrop of amber-red sandstone. The resort has a great kids club, several fab restaruatns, almost four miles of sandy coastline, tennis courts, a nine-hole golf course, sailing and surfing in the Atlantic surely enough to keep even the most active family entertained. Scott Dunn has a week in a two bedroom residence from 846pp B&B including flights. An equivalent break would come in at nearer 1500pp in Italy and as much as 1700pp in the South of France.
