Itinerary

Fly to Lisbon
Day 1-4

Lisbon, Portugal

Begin your family adventure in Lisbon, Portugal's buzzing capital city. This ancient city is full of life and its unique districts are a delight to explore. Discover the city on foot, and for a truly exclusive experience, jump aboard your own private yellow tram - a real icon of Lisbon. Winding your way through the charming, narrow streets, you'll be able to sit back and enjoy the view of colourful neighbourhoods such as Alfama and Chiado. No visit to Lisbon is complete without trying one of its famous custard tarts, or 'pastel de nata', created by monks in the city in the 18th century. For a unique, hands-on experience, try cooking these delicious pastries for yourself in a specialist workshop, where you'll learn the secrets behind these mouthwatering treats.

Those looking to explore further afield could spend a day exploring the mystical mountains of nearby Sintra, a fascinating city home to a unique collection of palaces and castles nestled on hilltops and hidden in verdant forests. Discover the historic monuments of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, from the surreal, colourful Pena Palace and the Castle of the Moors to the Gothic spires of Quinta da Regaleira.

Accommodation: The One Palacio da Anunciada ( 3 nights )
Day 4-6

Monsaraz, Alentejo

After soaking up the culture in Lisbon, it's time to head inland to the rural Alentejo region, to explore the area's rolling hills and charming medieval villages. This enchanting region is still home to traditional farming methods and as such boasts a fantastic farm-to-table culinary scene. Stay at São Lourenço do Barrocal for two nights, relaxing in the beautiful scenery or enjoying the ample outdoor activities on offer.

The vast São Lourenço do Barrocal estate is the perfect spot for getting back to nature, with walking tours, cycling and horse riding all available. Explore the picturesque landscape with a fun treasure hunt or discover nearby villages such as Monsaraz and Evora, before spending a truly special evening admiring the night sky. The Alentejo's Dark Sky Alqueva Reserve is a protected area far from the light pollution of large cities and offers fantastic opportunities for stargazing at the Alqueva Lake Observatory.

Accommodation: Sao Lourenco do Barrocal ( 2 nights )
Day 6-11

Algarve

For the final leg of your journey, head south to the enticing coastline of the Algarve, where dramatic cliffs and beautiful sandy beaches line the shore. Here you'll spend five nights soaking up the sun at Pine Cliffs Resort, where children will be entertained at the Scott Dunn Explorers kids club and parents can have a well-deserved rest. With a full programme of activities, a choice of several pools, and watersports on the beach, there is plenty of fun to be had.

Guests can unwind on the golden beach or take to the waves and try their hand at surfing in this top surf destination. Enjoy quality time together with a family-friendly cooking class, play tennis in the sun or attempt the 18-hole mini golf course - the opportunities are endless.
