Hutong Evening Foodie Tour By Tuktuk
As you travel through the winding alleys and narrow lanes of Beijing’s hutongs you’ll enter a world away from the well-trodden paths of the city. Here you’ll have a chance to meet the local people and sample some of the traditional dishes served up in family-run eateries and private homes.
Travelling in a private tuktuk, stocked with beer and soft drinks, your English-speaking guide will lead you through the historic streets to five restaurants where you’ll be able to sample 15 different dishes, including homemade noodles prepared by a local family, authentic Beijing meat buns and a popular yoghurt dessert. You’ll be welcomed into the courtyard of a local family, have the chance to roast meats at a BBQ joint, try your hand at rolling and stuffing traditional pancakes and explore the culinary history of the city. Visit a local brewery to sample the expertly crafted beer and taste China’s famous Baijiu, a potent locally distilled spirit.
