Today, drive about one hour to Drak Yerpa to visit a fascinating holy cave retreat built on a hillside with more than 80 medication caves. Drak Yerpa is described as the 'life tree' or spiritual axis of Lhasa. Before the Cultural Revolution, it was also home of several hundred hermits, monks, and nuns. Hike up the hill and visit the places where former Tibet King take meditation while being surrounded by beautiful valleys, exquisite murals and many spiritual caves. Afterwards, stop by a local Tibetan village on the way back to Lhasa and enjoy a cup of Yak buttered tea while learning about their way of life.
