Do not miss the chance to discover the wildlife and beautiful scenery of Louisiana’s wetlands, an area unaltered for centuries. After greeting your captain, you climb aboard an airboat for this exciting adventure. An airboat, or skiff, is a flat-bottomed vessel propelled by a propeller, which in turn is powered by an engine. Often used for fishing, they are suited to these waters as they can travel slowly and quietly, so as not to disturb the wildlife. As you make your way through the peaceful shallow marshes, navigating the evocative bayous lined with cypress and tupelo-gum trees, you will be mesmerised by this haunting scenery. While you scout for alligators, turtles, snakes, ibis, heron, black bears, wild boar, bald eagles and other wildlife, your captain will explain the ecology and natural history of this atmospheric region.
