The Lake District
Lake District & Northern England, United Kingdom
The Lake District National Park or "the lakes" as it is affectionately known is a fairly mountainous area in north west England that has inspired many writers and poets such as William Wordsworth.
Once the home of Beatrix Potter, famous for creating Peter Rabbit, the Lake District gets its name from the quantity of magnificent lakes in the region. The largest lake in England, Windermere is here as well as the highest mountain in England, Scaffell Pike. Home to forests, mountains (fells), lakes and peppered with farmland, the Lake District is a rambler's paradise and a wonderful place to visit to see the beauty of the English countryside. Enjoy a cruise on Lake Windemere and relax as you enjoy the beautiful views.
