Hidcote Manor & Gardens
Located just outside the charming Cotswolds town of Chipping Campden, Hidcote is a stunning Arts and Crafts garden famous for its rare shrubs and trees and outstanding design features. It’s a perfect place to visit if you need gardening inspiration.
Designed by the gifted American horticulturist Major Lawrence Johnston, Hidcote is situated in the beautiful Cotswolds countryside amongst hills, rolling valleys and dry-stone walls. Hidcote comprises a series of small gardens within a garden, with long avenues and walkways bordered by scented old roses and plants gathered from Johnston’s many plant-hunting trips.
The water features, wild flower areas and pools together create a unique and wonderful atmosphere. Find a quiet spot and sit on one of the ornate benches and watch green woodpeckers search for their lunch or listen to the calls from the buzzards circling overhead. Time it right and you might even catch a glimpse of the elusive hummingbird moth.
