Foraging in the New Forest
Don your boots and set foot deep into the New Forest for a light-hearted way to experience the fun and excitement of gathering and then combining the fruits of the forest with the bounty of the seashore before joining Head Chef, Luke, to prepare, cook and serve these fresh goodies to you and your friends at The Kitchen Table.
Every season offers something different. In the forest, Spring brings sweet edible young foliage and herbs; summer edible flowers, fruits and berries; whilst later in the autumn from the leafy forest floor emerge the wonderful varieties of mushrooms - porcini, chanterelles and pieds de mouton to name but a few. On the nearby seashore, many varieties of seaweed, samphire and wild maritime plants can be gathered along with clams, cockles, mussels, whelks and winkles from the rocks and sand.
