Famous for its spicy and zingy flavours, colourful and bustling markets, golden temples and buddhas…Thailand has got it all in one easy to explore package. Blend that all together with some unusual experiences and palm studded beaches and you’ve got a perfect trip that will make you the envy of your friends back home.

  1. Days 1-4: Bangkok

Your adventure begins the moment you touch down in Bangkok, Thailand’s vibrant and buzzing capital, where cutting-edge gleaming skyscrapers contrast with ornamental ancient temples and colourful floating markets. Upon arrival you’ll be whisked off to your minimalist hotel, an urban escape that combines edgy modern style with typical Asian flair. Located along the lively Sathorn Road, it’s without doubt the coolest hotel in Bangkok. It’s ideal for those who want to be amongst the action yet desire a luxurious relaxing retreat at the end of a busy day. The hotel’s infamous Met Bar is a sanctuary of elegance and fun and is one of the city’s coolest hangouts. Equally enticing are the menus at Nahm, the hotel's contemporary Thai restaurant, and Glow which serves healthy cuisine, which perfectly complements the hotel's excellent holistic spa and wellness centre.

Bangkok is brimming full of places to explore and thrilling experiences. An orientation tour with a local guide is a great way to ease you into the city’s frenetic pace whilst helping you to tick off some of the most famous landmarks. The eye-catching Grand Palace with its dazzling golden temples and sacred Emerald Buddha, is a definite must visit. As is Wat Pho, home to the iconic 45-meter long reclining Buddha! Whilst in Bangkok, you must also explore the tangled maze of canals, known locally as klongs, that wind through the city and are home to fascinating local life and the photogenic floating markets.

We all know and love Thai food, but there’s so much more to it than your classic Pad Thai and green curry. Join a guided foodie tour and stroll through the streets of Bangrak, soaking up the fervent atmosphere and learn about the history of the area. Enjoy a selection of food tastings, ranging from the traditional to the rather more unusual, guaranteed to excite your taste buds!

Accommodation: COMO Metropolitan Bangkok (3 nights)

  2. Days 4-7: Chiang Mai

After three nights in the bustling metropolis that is Bangkok, fly north for a completely different city experience in Chiang Mai. Surrounded by mountains and lush countryside, it is much greener and far more serene than the capital. It’s just a short drive from the airport to your hotel, so within fifteen minutes you’ll be cooling yourself with a lemongrass scented towel whilst you check in. Perched on the banks of the river, on the edge of the walled city and just a stone’s throw from the famous buzzing Night Bazar, the Anantara Chiang Mai takes a contemporary approach to design and is among the most elegant and stylish of hotels around. There’s a delightful riverside pool where you can escape from the heat and enjoy some rest and relaxation time. Add to this the unobtrusive but impeccable service and a superb restaurant specialising in innovative Northern Thai cuisine, and you have a slick city retreat.

You could spend days upon days exploring the myriad of beautiful temples up here, representing a mixture of architectural styles, that reflect the region’s varied heritage. However, we’ve booked you onto an alternative experience, that’ll see you whizzing around town on a Segway, stopping at some of the best places for a photo opportunity before gliding off to the next one. You’ll be back at your hotel in time for lunch, and you can spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. You could also arrange a hike up to one of the nearby hill tribes or hone your skills at a cooking class, so that you can impress your friends at the next dinner party.
The following day is pretty relaxed too, until you join your guide in the afternoon for a spiritual discovery of Chiang Mai, starting with a walk around the city’s ancient crumbling walls whilst the sun illuminates the glittering tops of temples and pagodas. Then escape the urban surroundings as you climb winding stairs through the forest, passing intricate stone carvings towards the hidden jungle temple of Wat Phalad. Reach the top in time to witness a gorgeous sunset over the city below and receive a blessing from the monks who live here, whilst they begin their magical evening chanting.

Accommodation: Anantara Chiang Mai Resort (3 nights)

  3. Days 7-12: Koh Samui

After all this exploration and excitement, you’ll be ready for some quality downtime on the beach. A short flight from Chiang Mai takes you to Koh Samui, where the sandy shores and warm waters will be a welcome stop for your final five nights. Sala Samui Chaweng Beach is a funky and stylish beachfront retreat, perfectly positioned to help you escape and recharge. Rooms are understated, but luxuriously appointed and each has its own private plunge pool. Out on the white sands sink into a sumptuous daybed or kickback on the super comfy beanbag chairs whilst sipping on fruity cocktails from the hotel’s extensive drinks menu.

There are plenty of fun ways to pass the time. Go kayaking around uninhabited islands whilst taking snaps of the picture-perfect tropical setting and jump overboard with a snorkel to discover an incredible underwater world teeming with exotic fish and corals. Hike one of the island’s winding jungle trails, keeping an eye out for playful monkeys and be rewarded with spectacular views over the treetop canopy and surrounding shimmering blue waters. For those seeking ultimate relaxation join a morning yoga class, indulge in an afternoon spa treatment before some ritual therapy at the nearby boutique stalls and night markets. Delicious, moonlit dinners can be enjoyed out on the beach. Should you wish to venture out, the lively town of Chaweng, with its thriving restaurant and bar scene, is only a short walk away.

Accommodation: Sala Samui Chaweng Beach (5 nights)
