Highlights in and around the town include Sadan Cave, a cave full of Buddha images that leads to a hidden lake, Lumbini Gardens, home to over 1,000 identical Buddha statues, Kyauk Ka Lat Pagoda that sits in the middle of a man-made lake, and Kawgun Cave, where every inch of the cave wall is covered in Buddha images - some dating back to the 7th century.
There is the option to make one last stop at the Bat Cave for sunset before heading back to your hotel. As the name suggests, Bat Cave is home to tens of thousands of bats which exit in their droves as the sun dips below the river - a sight not to be missed.
