Average time to visit
The best time to visit Burma is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.

Sanctum Inle Resort is located on the eastern bank of Inle Lake in Myanmar. It features a luxurious minimalist style complete with a central courtyard, monastic style arches and views over the lake.
Designed by the acclaimed architect Brigitte Dumond de Chassart, the resort is quite different to other hotels you will come across on Inle Lake. It draws on monastic influences (Spanish not Burmese), featuring arched walkways and cloisters that is some way could also be described as a touch colonial. It is strikingly luxurious; a perfect mix of minimalism, style and elegance.
The resort features a central main building where you find the restaurants, bar and some of the rooms. There is also the Cluster which is located behind the main building and houses many of the Cloister Classic Rooms. There are also villas located to the left of the main building, perfect for families wanting a two bedroom unit.
Sanctum Inle Lake has light and airy rooms, all featuring teak floorboards and exposed wooden beams. Expect all the mod cons such as air-conditioning, mini bars, modern bathrooms and TVs. The villas are ideal for families, offering two bedrooms and a private terrace overlooking the lake. The superb Abbey Suites are located in the main building and have their own exquisite private terrace.
The Rectory is the main restaurant and is located at the front of the main building overlooking the lake. Drawing on local Shan culinary influences, it provides a wide range of dishes and also has international options available. There is also a spa and a main swimming pool which is due to be completed in 2016.
The hotel leads in with the Cloister Classic Rooms which are located in a separate building with Deluxe Rooms in the main building. There are two types of larger suites, Abbey and Hermitage Suites and then ten villas in the grounds which can interconnect for families.
Sanctum Inle Resort features one large restaurant with options to dine outside and features a range of international dishes. The Cloister Bar is located beside this, again offering outdoor space. There is a superb spa offering a range of treatments.

Sanctum is really unique on Inle Lake because it has a very different style to the other properties, the majority of which are much more Burmese in style. This is very sophisticated with spacious rooms - I was lucky enough to be in one of the enormous villa rooms, which are definitely worth going for! The hotel was literally brand new when we stayed, and really beautiful.
