Responsible for producing almost 15% of Australia’s wines, of which a significant number are premium labels, the Margaret River region is one of the most beautiful wine regions in Australia, with patch-work scenery of emerald-green pastures and neat rows of vines. Boutique breweries, dairy products, jams and condiment producers, a marron (freshwater crayfish) farm, olive groves and even chocolate and fudge factories add to the gourmet experience. The local towns are also scenic and have a good collection of local craft and art galleries as well as antique and bric-a-brac shops that are fun to browse.
In contrast to its domesticated hinterland, the nearby coastline is rugged, wild and known for some of the best surf breaks in the country. The limestone coastline between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin is marked with rocky headlands, spectacular coastal cliffs, battered and moulded by the force of the Indian Ocean. The Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park has a spectacular coastal walk, interspersed with numerous limestone caves and inland from the coast are stands of tall jarrah, marri and karri forests – some of the tallest trees in the world grow here.
The two-bedroom Ocean View Villas each feature a private heated plunge pool and barbecue on the private deck terrace overlooking the magnificent Injidup Bay. There is also a special honeymoon one-bedroom villa.
Inside, the villas provide your own spacious lounge and dining space, with eco-fireplace, flat-screen television, DVD player, iPod docking station, wireless internet and decor exuding a French influence with crisp tones offset with an eclectic mix of furnishings and objects d'art.
Private chef dining experiences can be arranged, and all guests receive a complimentary gourmet breakfast hamper on arrival. Additional hampers for special occasions or to satisfy particular tastes can be pre-arranged.
The Margaret River Wine Region features many magnificent wineries and restaurants offering superb settings and featuring fresh local cuisine, with many only a few minutes drive from the Retreat. Allow the staff to arrange a lunch or dinner booking for you and relax and enjoy the bounties of this region.
The day spa is a focal point of the Retreat. Its selection of wellness focused body treatments, massages and healing baths are the reason many come to stay. Along with their signature range of treatments at Injidup Spa Retreat, such as the Fusion Massage, guests can also partake in morning and afternoon, meditation and yoga sessions.
