Located just outside the small town of Granby along Willow Creek and only two hours from Denver, C Lazy U is a family-friendly dude ranch with an excellent children's program, unbeatable service and endless outdoor adventure in a stunning setting.
There really is something for everyone at C Lazy U - Children will never be short of excitement and adventure in this ultimate wilderness playground, and adults can do as little or as much as they please! There is a huge variety of adventures of all kinds, from horse back riding, wagon rides, fly fishing, sporting clays and archery, to tennis, yoga, zip-lining, mountain biking, the wonderful Lazy You Spa and spending time by the spring-fed and heated pool.
After a full day of making the most of the great outdoors, guests return to the main lodge to enjoy gourmet evening meals, prepared by the talented Ranch Chef and served family-style with other guests. Whilst families share breakfast together each day (either at the Ranch or up at the Woodsie cookout location with a beautiful view and mountain air on Fridays), children enjoy lunch and evening meals in the company of their new friends (with the exception of the very popular weekly family cookout)!
Accommodation options vary in size and style, and are scattered across the ranch, but all are within walking distance of the main lodge. Most rooms feature stone fireplaces, western furnishings, plush robes and nightly turn-down service. The larger cabins (Crest or Hill) have three bedrooms and are a great option for families with a cosy feel and a sense of privacy, yet plenty of space.
What puts C Lazy U apart from other guest ranches is its renowned children's program, which revolves around horseback riding and allows kids spend their days riding and taking part in activities in age and ability appropriate groups. Whilst the program means that parents and children ride out separately for most of the week, family rides take place on Fridays, and it allows children to gain confidence in the saddle at the same pace as their peers whilst making life long friends. The week culminates with the big "Shodeo", a family rodeo, where guests showcase their skills and compete in fun contests and events!
Entertainment is provided nightly and ranges from bonding by the campfire roasting marshmallows to barn dances with live entertainment. There is always something going on at the ranch from sun up to sun down.
The 43 guest rooms and cabins have recently been remodelled, and are all within walking distance of the main lodge and swimming pool. The decor is of rustic elegance, however there is no air conditioning because it is not really needed where the ranch is nestled high in the Tocky Mountains. One to three bedroom cabins are available, most with fireplaces, and children’s rooms have twin beds or bunk beds.
C Lazy U has a renowned Children's Programme that has been running for over 65 years. Children aged 3-17 will be divided into groups with a counsellor and children of their age (Cowpokes: 3-5 years, Mustangs: 6-12 years and Teens: 13-17 years) for the duration of their stay. Whilst there is plenty of family time too, C Lazy U kids will make lifelong friends here.
Supervised, age-appropriate morning and afternoon activities include everything from horseback riding and pony riding, mountain biking, nature hikes and scavenger hunts, to picnics, pool parties and games in the Kids Corral.
For children under the ages of 3, nanny or parent supervision is required and the ranch does not offer babysitting services.
The ranch has a spa, swimming pool, saloon with bar, tennis courts, ropes course and zip line.
Services include complimentary WiFi, nightly turndown, tea, coffee and snacks replenished daily, laundry service and washing machines for independent use. The General Store (known as Luis' Old Place) stocks beautiful gifts as well as practical ranch gear and items to brand by the campfire.
In addition to the horses and riding programs, C Lazy U offers an endless selection of activities for guests to take part in. Activities include tennis, paddle boating, hay rides, cattle pushing clinics, shooting and archery, fly fishing, guided mountain biking, ropes course and zip-lining; and in the winter downhill and cross country skiing, ice skating, snowmobiling, sledding, morning feed wagon rides and snowshoeing.
In the summer months, at an extra cost there is the option of spending a night under the stars in C Lazy U's fabulous Glamping Tent up on the Outpost.

When to go
Spring and Fall enjoy mild days and cool nights whilst the summer months from June to August provide warm to hot days and pleasant evenings. Summer is the family high season when most guests visit. Winter is marked by crisp days and cold evenings, with snowfall creating a winter wonderland. The Christmas and New Year’s vacations are the best time to travel for families in the winter, which also boasts a children’s program. Whilst the ranch is open all year round, (activities in winter months include skiing, sledding, tubing and sleigh rides), peak time is June through to end of August when the summer activities and Kids Club is in full swing.
