Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

Description

A small and chic boutique hotel set on the spectacular and rugged east coast, The Atlantis has incredible views over the Atlantic and offers a different Barbados experience.

The newest, chicest and most talked about boutique hotel on Barbados located on the island’s less developed, and scenically beautiful east coast. The Atlantis Hotel is one of Barbados’ oldest original hotels dating back to the 19th century when the island’s railway dropped off its passengers at its doorstep in Tent Bay for a ‘seaside’ vacation.

With just 10 rooms and suites, many of which offer spectacular views of the east coast sunrise and ocean from the comfort of your four poster bed, the Atlantis Hotel offers the perfect romantic retreat. The hotel features a fabulous and sought after restaurant, famed for its West Indian Buffet Sunday lunch serving delicious local specialties.

It is also a fantastic spot for experienced surfers. Aside from the wide range of watersports on offer, the hotel is happy to recommend plenty of cultural activities such as a visit to the nearby Andromeda Botanic Gardens.

Living by the sea in the UK, I immediately felt an affinity with the Atlantis, located on the rugged east coast of Barbados, with it's barrelling waves. The hotel is small, with just 10 rooms, which are beautifully furnished, and there is a nautical theme throughout the hotel. Cattlewash is their largest room, but the views are not as magnificent as those from their Ocean Front rooms.

The only hotel we feature on the West Coast, the Atlantis is a perfect opportunity to experience a different side to Barbados. The Atlantic coast is normally only visited by surfers looking for the big Atlantic rollers, but it is very rugged and beautiful in its own way as well.

The Atlantis is nestled on the oceans edge in a little fishing village. It feels a little like an inn with its nautical feel, white washed walls and dark wood floors.

It has a great little restaurant which is popular with locals for its Caribbean Sunday lunch and its also a great place to watch the fishermens boats coming in whilst tucking into breakfast.

The rooms are very comfortably furnished, not luxurious but very nice and the beds are extremely comfortable. The Ocean front rooms are the most popular as they give a direct view out to sea, however, do be aware that the sea, as beautiful as it is, is also very loud, so earplugs may be required at night.

I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it for 2 or 3 nights before heading to the calm turquoise waters and business of the West coast beaches. Its a world away and a very different Barbados experience.
