Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

Fairmont Royal Pavilion is the ideal spot for a relaxing beach break, being situated on one of the best stretches of beach on the Island. Although they welcome families, it definitely has more of a couples feel to it, and theres not an awful lot there to keep children occupied.
Having recently been renovated, the rooms are looking really fresh. Theyre very contemporary in style now which is fairly unusual for the Caribbean, but the exterior of the property does keep some of the original Caribbean charm.
They have evening entertainment which was really lovely and seemed to bring everyone together at the bar. It was a singer and saxophonist when I was there but I understand this changes nightly. Dinner was delicious too although Im now regretting not trying the Macaroni Pie as a side as Im told this is a staple diet for Bajans!

The beach here is a lovely long stretch and offers good beach strolling opportunities in comparison to some of the other west coast hotels where the rocks can prevent you from walking too far. Also along the beach you will find the famous Lonestar restaurant and a few other little gems such as Ju Ju's and Santi where you can soak up the Bajan beach bar and dining scene. As the hotel was built in the 1940s it has a brilliant beachfront location and from every room you can hear the waves lapping the ocean as you sleep. Incredible oceans views await you here and once the renovations are complete by the end of this year this will be a great new product I will be excited to talk to guests about. At the restaurant there is also a really varied menu and what I liked the most was the Bajan and West Indian influences on the menu. Try the Jerk shrimps - amazing!

This traditional and elegant hotel has the best location right on the beach! It was built before rulings came into play that you had to build a certain number of metres back from the sea front. All of the rooms have sea views and the balconies of the Oceanfront Deluxe Rooms now feature glass panelling to allow unobstructed views of the ocean!
There are a number of dining options, however, I could quite easily have taken all my meals at the al fresco all day restaurant Taboras which is right on the sea front.
The hotel is undergoing quite a large refurbishment of its rooms in stages, which will give it a much-needed fresher feel. I loved the Beachfront Junior Suites, which have a large, private deck terrace and outdoor living area looking out over the beach.

The food was great with good entertainment in the evening. It has a very relaxed feel. Ask the boathouse to take you further along the beach to swim with the turtles.

I loved the ocean view from the spacious rooms at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion, upgrade to the suites on the ground floor and have your own private terrace to relax and take in the stunning view. With a long beautiful stretch of beach, this hotel is a lovely option for both couples and families.

The Fairmont Royal Pavillion has what I think is one of the best beaches of all our hotels in Barbados. The rooms in the three storey beach front blocks, all feature a king size bed and have direct sea views. On the upper floors you will find the Ocean Front rooms, which are all really spacious, and can interconnect via the balcony. On the ground floor, you will find the Beach Front Junior Suites which were my favourite. The are a little more roomy, include butler service, connect internally, and have direct access onto your own beach front terrace. If you are sensitive to the sun, every third room has an extended roof over the terrace giving additional shade so be sure to request one.
