Average time to visit
Late autumn (September to November) and early spring (February to April) are the best time to visit, with daytime temperatures in the 20's and low 30's Celsius. You can also go in midwinter (December to January) if you don't mind the chilly nights (typically 5-10 Celsius). Midsummer (June to August) among the dunes is best avoided, as blistering temperatures climb to the high 30's, however the fresher, cooler Dar Ahlam Valley of the Roses Camp is provided as an alternative at this time of year. Dar Ahlam closes each year during July.

Around a five-hour drive from Dar Ahlam and the town of Ouarzazate, the Dar Ahlam Nomad Camp is well worth the journey. You'll be taken in a 4X4 over the Tizi-n-Bachkoum pass, through valleys and past gorges before stopping for a delicious lunch. Finally, you arrive in the desert, driving across the sand to the tents of your own private camp.
The billowing white tents at Dar Ahlam Nomad Camp allow guests to have the true desert experience, yet provide all necessary amenities. Beautifully decorated, the tents use local furnishings and products to offer an authentic Moroccan atmosphere. The tents are extremely spacious with a double bed, an en-suite bathroom, a comfortable lounge area with piles of cushions and Berber fabrics, as well as a private outdoor seating area offering views across the Sahara. This is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a drink and admire the rolling peaks of the dunes.
Spend your evening here exploring the dunes, watching as the sunlight and shadows dance across the sand. Follow the lantern-lit paths through the desert to your private dining table and discover the very best of traditional Moroccan cuisine. Enjoy Berber-style dishes with a glass of wine under the incredible night sky and soak up the fantastic atmosphere.
Guests staying at the exclusive-use Dar Ahlam Nomad Camp will be able to watch the beautiful stars above from a private, well-appointed tent.
