Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

For a small country, Jordan has an extraordinary range of climates. The best time to visit climate-wise is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the daytime temperatures aren't too extreme. April is probably the best month, when temperatures are warm and wildflowers are in bloom. March can be cold and rainy in the north but is balmy by the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea.

If you want to dine at one of the restaurants, make sure you book in advance - they are so popular that they get booked up quickly!

Al Qasr Metropole is a small, stylish hotel located in Amman's business district of Shmeisani with extensive views over the city from the upper floors. It has a warm atmosphere as it boasts some of the most popular restaurants in the city.

Providing excellent value accommodation in central Amman, Al Qasr Metropole is a small and well-established hotel. With just 66 rooms and suites, as well as some excellent dining options, Al Qasr has a cosy atmosphere.

With rooms covering six floors, and a seventh floor housing two of the hotel's restaurants, Al Qasr is one of the city's smaller properties offering a high standard of accommodation and service.

The rooms and suites on the lower three floors have been undergoing a refurbishment in 2014, and have been upgraded to Executive Rooms with modern and stylish decor.

Al Qasr Metropole's main restaurant, Trattoria, serves Italian cuisine and is located on the ground floor. Vinaigrette is situated on the seventh floor with panoramic views of Amman. It is famous for its steaks and sushi, and has even played host to the Jordanian royal family.

Al Qasr Metropole has 66 rooms and suites set over six floors.

The Superior Rooms are located on the upper three floors and measure 16 square metres. There are also Superior Rooms with balcony and six Superior Suites.

The Executive Rooms and Suites are a new category, introduced in 2014, when Superior Rooms and Suites have been undergoing a renovation. The rooms have been upgraded with stylish and modern interiors and they are located on the lower three floors.

At the end of each corridor, a suite and a room can connect behind an external door, making this option suitable for families with younger children.

Children are welcome at the hotel but there are no childcare facilities, including babysitting, available.

Al Qasr Metropole has a well-equipped business centre open 24 hours a day with internet access. Guests get access to the nearby Fitness First gym.

Al Qasr Metropole is home to three restaurants and bars.

Trattoria is located on the ground floor; the hotel's main restaurant, it serves Italian food including pasta, pizza, meat and fish dishes.

Vinaigrette is located on the top floor of the hotel and serves international cuisine including sushi, seafood, salads and steaks.

Oobé is a lounge bar which is famous for its burgers, steaks and cocktails.

Being located in Amman, Al Qasr Metropole is well-positioned for visits to the Roman city of Jerash to the north, Downtown Amman where the Citadel, the new museum, and the Roman theatre are. Guests can also visit the Dead Sea and various nature reserves around the country.

Scott Dunn can organise tailor-made sightseeing tours.

Clare Monro (Staff)

I really liked Al Qasr because it's got quite a cosy atmosphere, with newly refurbished rooms and suites. I'd only recommend going for the Executive Rooms as the Superior are a bit dated. I didn't eat there but the restaurants are meant to be some of the most popular in Amman. Do bear in mind it is a 4* so if you are looking for something more luxurious, choose either the Grand Hyatt or the Four Seasons, but for those not wishing to spend so much on a hotel in Amman, this is an excellent option.
