Hotel D'Angleterre
Situated in the heart of Copenhagen next door to the Royal Danish Theatre on the Kongens Nytorv Square, the luxurious Hotel D'Angleterre provides an exclusive gateway to uncovering the hidden treasures of Copenhagen’s past and present.
The d’Angleterre threw open its doors in 1755 and since then it has grown into an icon and a historic landmark in Copenhagen. It has welcomed politicians, celebrities, royalty and more in its 250 year history.
The hotel started life as a much simpler establishment than the grand dame it is today. Back in the 1700's a young hairdresser and makeup artist, Jean Marchal moved to the city with a theatre troupe. He fell in love with the Danish capital and threw in the day job for a position as a valet of an infamous Danish count. He then met the Royal chef’s daughter, Maria Coppy and fell in love, and went on to combine her talents for cooking with his of serving Royalty. This culminated in the pair opening a restaurant with rooms and as time evolved the d’Angleterre was born!
The hotel features 90 rooms including 60 suites. Guests can dine in Marchal, sip champagne in bar “Balthazar” and rest wearing legs after a days sight-seeing in the 400 sqm Spa.
