Chile is a year-round destination but the most pleasant months to visit are October to April. All activities are running in the Lakes region during these months and at the beginning and end of this period, Chilean spring and autumn, a great deal of new flora and beautiful colours can be enjoyed, respectively. Warmer weather will be experienced on the coast in the summer months (December-February). The Atacama Desert can be visited during any month of the year although there is usually some substantial rainfall in February.

You’ll need to touchdown in Santiago first, but you then connect with your flight up to the north of Chile before eventually arriving in the spectacular Atacama Desert. The highest and driest desert in the world, it is home to some of South America’s most spectacular scenery, guaranteed to excite even the most difficult to please of teens.
Choose from a bewildering range of activities (from sedate to extreme) which will be explained to you by your guide upon arrival. There are treks and bike rides through multi-coloured moon-like rock formations and sand dunes, vehicle adventures to high-altitude salt lakes flanked by volcanoes, picnics beside flamingo filled lakes, visits to billowing geysers, epic horse rides and much, much more. In the afternoon, whilst the kids cool off at the pool, you can enjoy some much-deserved rest and pampering at the spa. The talented chefs prepare delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners combining locally sourced produce and traditional cooking techniques with modern twists and flavours.
The lack of pollution combined with its clear desert night sky makes the Atacama one of the best places on earth for stargazing and the hotel even has its own observatory, so you can spend an evening learning about the constellations. We are confident this will be one of your favourite places and you won’t want to leave!

In the morning you’ll fly back to the capital Santiago, where you will be met and transferred to your plush boutique hotel in the vibrant city centre. To help with your bearings, we have included a guided half-day bike tour of some of the urban green spaces, hip neighbourhoods and historical highlights of downtown Santiago. If you have time head up to Cerro San Cristobal (not far from your hotel), it’s one of the city's major attractions boasting glorious views out over the skyline, flanked by the impressive Andes mountain range. With an exciting gastronomy scene, there’s a lot to be liked about this buzzing metropolis.

Today the adventure really ramps up again as you escape the city and head south to the enchanting and largely untouched archipelago of Chiloé in Patagonia. Your home for the next few days will be a luxurious retreat, a unique wooden structure built on stilts, nestled amongst rolling green hills with spectacular views out over the sea.
Embark on an amazing range of guided outdoor excursions and culturally rich experiences, including trekking, horse riding, bike riding, kayaking and cultural visits to the island’s remote settlements. Chiloé has an aura of mythology and meeting the locals will most certainly be an experience not to be forgotten. The hotel even has its own wooden boat (called Williche), so you can hop onboard for adventures across the archipelago's ocean, channels and fjords, stopping at empty beaches and gorgeous coves. After a day of exploration around the island, the kids will probably want to dive into one of the two heated pools, whilst you can take this opportunity to check out the range of treatments at the spa.
Don’t worry about a thing, as all the mouth-watering meals (with most ingredients locally grown or sourced) and daily guided excursions are included in your stay. In the evening as the children post pictures of their escapades on various social media channels, you can settle down beside the huge copper fireplace and take recommendations from the knowledgeable bartender (the signature cocktails, made from the flowers of a native tree found only here, are not to be missed!).

This morning you’ll fly back to Santiago and transfer to the picturesque port town of Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage site brimming with history, quirky cafés, artists’ workshops and vibrant street art on every corner. Together with a local guide, explore the historic downtown with its labyrinthine maze of streets and brightly coloured buildings, and ride an ancient funicular for fabulous views out over the Pacific Ocean. There’s a real bohemian feel to the place and the laidback vibe makes it ideal for just wandering around and popping into little shops and cafés. The hotel’s swimming pool is the ideal spot to soak up some late afternoon sun, and perhaps a cocktail or two, before heading out to dinner at one of the town’s funky independent restaurants.
On the way to Valparaíso you will pass by a few of Chile's best vineyards. If you would like to stop at one of these on route to enjoy a tasting session and lunch, just let us know and we can amend the itinerary to include this.
