I first visited North America on a family road trip around New England taking in Boston, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. Since then I have enjoyed returning and exploring much more of the USA and Canada covering, California, Texas, Arizona, Las Vegas, Utah, Western Canada, Florida, Louisiana, New York, Virginia and most recently, Colorado.
Highlights of my travels to North America include, peering over the edge of Horseshoe Bend in Arizona, admiring the Grand Canyon from a helicopter, trying my hand at cattle penning on a ranch, watching the local rodeo in Texas, driving the Big Sur in California, spotting wild bears in the Canadian Rockies, getting up close (but not too close!) to wild alligators in the Florida Everglades and dining on a steamboat on the Mississippi whilst listening to a live jazz band. I love the huge variety that North America has to offer, long sandy beaches, interesting history and culture, buzzing cities, dude ranches and fantastic scenery and wildlife.
What my guests have said
"The itinerary was perfect for what we wanted. The advice we had received from Lucie beforehand was very useful and the logistics worked out incredibly well."
"Well-planned and great experiences built into the trip. Lucie Polwin was very helpful and she built a wonderful experience, with all the activities. A wonderful trip exceeding expectations, we have some amazing photos and memories of our honeymoon. Thank you!"
"Completely surpassed our expectations on every front – all so perfectly organized, it made it so easy for us. We fitted so much in, which was down to your expertise – if I'd been planning the vacation on my own, I would never have believed we could cover all that with a 6 year old – in just 12 days."
Favourite places I've been
Spending time on a ranch is a great addition to any trip to North America. They are great for beginners or more experienced horse riders looking to develop their skills. Try your hand at cattle penning or roping, it is a huge amount of fun!
A helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon is an absolute must. On the trip from Las Vegas you can actually land in the canyon and enjoy some champagne!
Antelope Canyon in Arizona is stunning, you must book a trip early though, try to book the 11am excursion to get the best photos!
My hot picks
Complete with its own vineyard and authentic corral, the setting of Carmel Valley Ranch has to be seen to be believed.
Sitting in prime position on the famed strip, the Mandarin Oriental has a boutique feel whilst offering all the facilities you could ever need during a stay in Las Vegas
