Scarlett Richard

London Office

I have always had a desire to travel and so as soon as university was over with, I was off to explore the world. Inspired by all things Latin, I left for South America, where I was lucky enough to spend 7 months exploring its vibrant cities, epic landscapes and heart-felt people. From then on, I was hooked and continued my travels to Asia and Australia.

On returning home and unable to sit still, a career working in the travel industry was the perfect antidote. With four years gone by specialising in Latin America, I have been lucky enough to return to many of my favourite places, which include Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, the Galapagos and more recently Mexico. I love sharing my experiences and passion with others and love hearing about others travel stories. No matter how many times I visit Latin America, the list of places to visit continues to get longer and longer as there is such a wealth of things to see and do here. It is an incredible continent and made for travel.

Travel nuggets

  • Take lots of photos! They are the ultimate souvenir. They don't cost anything, they are easy to share with others and will always make you smile.

  • When visiting a new destination, always try to do something different and get out of your comfort zone. Whether it be a new activity or sampling local cuisine, it will be these adventures that you will remember the most.

  • In many destinations in South America the weather can change dramatically throughout the day and so the key to packing is layers.

My hot picks

Blancaneaux Lodge, Mountain Pine Ridge, Mayan Mountains, Belize

A complete paradise, The attention to detail and level of service is faultless. The rooms are beautiful and the property is set within its own reserve, where there are many walking trails, secluded waterfalls and natural pools to enjoy.

&Beyond Vira Vira, Pucón, Chile

This is my favourite place in the world. Surrounded by two national parks, volcanoes, rivers, lakes and forest, Vira Vira offers an enormous range of activities. The food is impeccable, the staff are all lovely and the lodge interior is phenomenal.

Playa Cativo Lodge, Golfo Dulce, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica

Playa Cativo offers the ultimate jungle experience. Set in the pristine and untouched rainforest it offers great wildlife viewing and an array of exciting activities.

Tierra Atacama Hotel & Spa, San Pedro de Atacama, Northern Chile

Tierra Atacama doesn’t disappoint. Boasting amazing views of the Licancabur volcano and set in a very peaceful setting, you really get a feel for the Atacama. The outdoor pool and the spa is one of the best in the area and the guiding is second to none.
