Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Egypt enjoys a mild climate, making it a good year round destination. However, temperatures increase as you travel due south. Cairo can be chilly between December and February, and very hot between June and September. But the heat in Egypt is made bearable by the northerly breeze that leads to a drop in temperature at night. Peak temperatures in Upper Egypt occur between May and October, and are accompanied by extremely low humidity. The best time to visit Cairo is in the cooler months between November and March

Cairo has long-standing populations of major religious groups and past colonial powers, so it’s possible to find celebrations for most every major vacation. Islam, however, is the prevailing force here, and the month of Ramadan is one of the most pronounced Islamic vacations. It happens in July or August, and during this time, some shops and restaurants may stay closed during the daytime fast.

Itinerary

3,000 years of glorious civilization left behind stunning archaeological sites right by the bank of the majestic Nile. From the great pyramids and the majestic Abu Simbel, to the magnificent temples dedicated to ancient Egyptian gods and kings between Aswan and Luxor, this itinerary gets you straight to the highlights of Egypt.

  1. Days 1-4: Luxor, Egypt

Upon your arrival in Luxor, take a rest for the night. If your flight arrives early, you may have an optional tour to the Temple of Hathor, built for the Goddess of Music, Love and Joy.

Your journey begins in the East Bank of Luxor, home to Karnak and Luxor Temples, as well as the magnificent Luxor Museum.

Spend a day to uncover the very best of West Bank. Visit 3 tombs in the Valley of the Kings, Hatchepsut Temple, Tomb of King Tutankhamun with his mummified body, as well as a secret tomb containing Egypt's best-preserved carvings.

Accommodation: Steigenberger Nile Palace (3 nights)

  2. Days 4-5: Aswan

The next morning, you will be driven from Luxor to Aswan. Along the way, make stops at Temple of Horus, as well as Kom Ombo dedicated to a crocodile god.

Upon arrival in Aswan, sail the Nile River by felucca and end in Elephantine Island for an afternoon tea overlooking the spectacular panoramic view of the Nile in all directions. At night, take a motorboat to the Philae Temple where you will hear an hour long narrative of Isis and Osiris on an interactive Sound & Light Show.

On your final day in Aswan, make a trip to the colossal temple of Abu Simbel, set on a stunning backdrop of Lake Nasser before taking your flight back to Cairo.

    Accommodation: Movenpick Aswan (1 night)

  3. Days 5-8: Cairo

Start your day visiting the lesser-known Dahshour Pyramids, including the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid, to seize the chance to experience a Pyramid with less crowd! Continue to Memphis (the ancient capital of Egypt) and Sakkara (an ancient burial ground with the Step Pyramid of Djoser).

Finally, we bring you to none other than the Sphinx and the Great Pyramids of Giza, now the last standing of the Seven Wonders of the World. Optional activities include a camel ride or a Sound & Light Show at additional cost.

Your next day will bring you into the heart and romance of Islamic Cairo. Insightful stories are abound as you make your way through Citadel of Salah-el-Din, Mohamed Ali Mosque, Sultan Hassan Mosque and Ibn Tulun Mosque. Continue to Gayer Anderson Museum with impressive Islamic artifacts and Persian decorations.

Your final morning begins in Egyptian Museum to conclude your journey through 4,000 years of history as you uncover a plethora of ancient Egyptian treasures. Depending on your flight time, there may be a time for an optional tour of Coptic Cairo or last-minute shopping at Khan El Khalili Bazaar.

Accommodation: Marriott Mena House (3 nights)
