Holyroodhouse

A visit to Holyroodhouse is a must for those interested in Britain’s royal history. The Palace's atmospheric interiors have seen centuries of turbulent history, witness to conflict and ceremony, marriage and murder.
As well as being the current Queen’s residence in Scotland, Holyroodhouse was once home to Mary, Queen of Scots, who lived here between 1561 and 1567, and you can still visit her chambers. Today these same rooms play host to state visits and investitures, while annual garden parties are held against the dramatic backdrop of the Salisbury Crags.
