Iskanderkul
The hallowed waters of Iskanderkul Lake are synonymous with the mountainous beauty of Tajikistan. At 2195 metres above the sea level, Iskanderkul takes its name from Alexander the Great, with many legends and ancient tales linking him with this part of the Fann Mountains. The chilly waters change colour from azure blue to eerie green, which you will discover as you trek around its rugged shores.
Surrounded by rocky slopes and barren alpine flora, Iskanderkul Lake is the jewel in Tajikistan’s crown. Located high in the Fann Mountains, this stunning lake is a paradise for adventure seekers. Trek to the Iskanderkul Falls or to the aptly named Snake Lake, covered in reeds, or simply soak in the majesty and awe inspiring beauty of Iskanderkul itself.
