Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away during cold winter months.
Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. It’s the hottest season so not ideal for travel, although early April is a good time to get great value for money if you don’t mind the heat. In western Rajasthan temperatures may soar, particularly in May and June, so we'd suggest avoiding Jaisalmer and the Thar Desert at this time.
The monsoon season usually runs from July to September. The temperature drops slightly, and humidity increases. During this period 90% of the rain Rajasthan occurs, although in reality Rajasthan never receives much rainfall. Lakes and rivers will be higher and there's more colour to the landscape.
October to March is the best time to travel to Rajasthan. Expect warm and sunny weather, perfect for exploring and relaxing. Please note that hotels are at their busiest over the Christmas and New Year period. December and January can have very cool mornings and evening and we suggest taking some warm clothing. Whilst temperatures in the desert areas are always hot in the daytime, they become some of the coolest areas of the state once the sun goes down. It’s also normal to expect some fog in the major cities of northern Rajasthan in December and January.

Description
A charming boutique property with 7 refurbished tasteful heritage style rooms. Built against the rampart walls of the city palace the hotel enjoys wonderful views, especially at night when the palace is lit up. The hotel has good service and food.
Just a stone's throw from the main palace walls, Bundi Vilas is our preferred stay in this charming and historic town. With spectacular views of both the palace and the Jait Sagar (lake) below, the rooftop terrace is the ideal place to relax and watch the world go by.
Each of the seven rooms have been refurbished in a traditional style. Exposed original masonry, low lighting and a real attention to detail make for a warm atmosphere and a strong sense of location and local style. All rooms have air-conditioning, well appointed bathrooms and comfortable beds.
Rooms at the top of the hotel are offer the best views and one can take breakfast outside the room in the morning. We suggest opting for these where possible but do be aware than the local monkeys occasionally enjoy dancing on the roof early morning!
Food is served on the roof top terrace, comprises largely local cuisine, and is very tasty indeed. Some European options are available.
The access point to the property is through the original 14 century lane and gateway so expect your driver to pull up in the town and the hotels porters to collect your luggage and transfer this to your room for you. This is an original heritage property so expect winding staircases and lots of character.
Accommodation
Bundi Vilas offers seven individual rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. Decor is in traditional Rajasthani style. All rooms have air-conditioning.

Reviews
Daniel Smith (Staff)
I spent the night here on a tour of rural Rajasthan and loved it. Its tucked away in the network of alleyways in the town and feels really old. The location is ideal for exploring the town, and dinner on the rooftop with the palace lit up at night is really atmospheric. Don't expect loads of frills but if you're after somewhere authentic the n its a great choice.
