Horse ride through thick rainforest to Mayan ruins, swim in crystal-clear pools fed by thundering waterfalls and tube through river caves, while all around the jungle teems with wildlife.
For a cultural interlude, the magnificent Cahal Pech, Xunantunich, El Pilar and Caracol ruins are a beguiling and intriguing step back into the Mayan era. Caracol in particular was a sprawling metropolis, the remains of which can be seen in an astronomic observatory, plazas, tombs and a vast pyramid of temples.
