Explore Long Street and Kloof Street

These are two of the oldest streets in the city, linking the harbour to the slopes of the mountain above. The streets are safe to walk along and have vibrant and bustling communities, interesting shops, vibrant galleries and fantastic restaurants dotted along their length.
There is a real blend of colonial and African influence in the atmosphere of this area, pop into some of the intriguing antique shops or try Clarke's at 211 Long Street, a revered Cape Town bookshop specialising in out-of-print African classics. Mama Africa, 178 Long St, is a good stop for lunch where you can try a wide variety of national dishes whilst enjoying live African drum music.
Up on Kloof Street, make sure to head to Manna Epicure for breakfast one day, 151 Kloof St, a stalwart of the local food scene. We've enjoyed delicious fresh flavours at Cafe Paradiso, 110 Kloof St, the terrace here boasts great views of Table Mountain.
