Yangon’s Circle Train and Visit to Dala
Today experience the more local side of Yangon with a ride on the famous Circle Train and a trip to Dala, across the Yangon River.
Yangon is a fascinating city and one that is quickly modernising, dotted with international brands. However, there are still some areas of the city that feel truly local and today you will have the chance to explore a few of them. Starting the day you will take the local Circle Train, a slow moving circuit which provides a fantastic platform to take in local life. Disembarking in the interesting neighbourhood of Kyee Myin Dine station you’ll have the chance to visit the local market, vibrant and bustling and full of friendly shopkeepers and locals making daily errands.
From here venture downtown to the busy Chinatown, where you will be able to see the making of some delicious street food including roasted pork, rice noodles and paper. For lunch you can discuss preferences with your guide but we would suggest a local curry shop which has a great atmosphere and the perfect spot to eat like a local.
In the afternoon take the short ferry ride across to Dala, which is still full of local neighbourhoods, quiet side streets and plenty of rickshaws to help you around the scenic town. This a fantastic area to explore and in total contrast to the now buzzing metropolis of Yangon. Ending the experience you will take the short ferry ride back to Yangon and onwards to your hotel.
