Mozambique enjoys a tropical climate, with plenty of sunshine throughout the year. The average temperature is around 28°C and the weather along the coast is sunny and warm even in midwinter. The country has two seasons: a wet season (from October to March) and a dry season (from April to September) – with very little variation in temperatures between the two.

Itinerary

Begin your adventure in the African wilderness and enjoy being on safari while relaxing in complete luxury, then fly on to in Mozambique and stay in a stunning chic beach retreat.

  1. Fly to Johannesburg

Fly to Johannesburg and connect with a light aircraft flight on to Madikwe Game Reserve.

  2. Days 1-4: Madikwe Game Reserve

Your lodge is situated in the heart of the 75,000-hectare, malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve and offers a fantastic game viewing from a stylish and comfortable base.

Madikwe Game Reserve is the perfect introduction to the African bush. The 75,000-acre reserve is malaria free and is the site of the world’s largest wildlife trans-location project. Its diverse geology and range of habitats allow a variety of species to flourish, including Africa’s ’big five’.

Seek out the 'big five' - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo, on twice daily game drives, along with some of the rarer animals, such as the endangered African wild dog.

Accommodation: Makanyane Safari Lodge (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-9: Maputo

Transfer to Johannesburg, fly to Maputo where you will be met and transferred by road to your lodge, a drive of 90 minutes. Your beach retreat is set within a beautiful secluded bay on a 2km stretch of untouched beach, backed by green bush and facing the stunning Indian Ocean.

Enjoy ocean safari, beach picnics and star gazing or simply enjoy a walk along miles of unspoilt coastline.

Accommodation: White Pearl Resorts (5 nights)

  4. Fly home (via Johannesburg)

Return by road to Maputo Airport in time for your onward flight to Johannesburg.
