Description

With its position high above the village, and mainly glass structure, The Omnia cuts a striking pose. Reached by a tunnel in the center of the village and a lift direct to the lobby, it delivers some of the best views in the resort over the entire village and the surrounding peaks of Rothorn, Stockhorn, Gornergrat, Monte Rosa, and of course, The Matterhorn. The white oak and grey granite design takes inspiration from European and American mountain lodges, whilst the décor and custom made furniture is minimalistic and modular. This is one of the finest places from which to explore all that Zermatt has to offer, from the fabulous skiing, to the world class mountain restaurants, and the traditional Swiss charm of the village itself.

The Omnia, along with its bird's eye location, has fabulous facilities. The spacious restaurant serves gastronomic breakfasts and modern, seasonal lunches and dinners, and guests can also eat out on the sun terrace with its surround views. The lounge bar and library are comfortable places to relax, whilst the Cavern, a man made glass and steel cave deep within the mountain is like entering a whole new world entirely. Floating over water, and equipped with state of the art technology including a complete DJ system, it's a place to watch a film, host a private dinner or party, or just relax. Large fire places feature throughout, including in some of the rooms and suites.

The hotel has 30 rooms, including 12 suites, all of which vary in size and layout, but feature private balconies, most with panoramic views. Bathrooms are spacious and elegant, and the suites feature two each. They all come furnished with a minibar, LCD screen TV and sound system and have free WiFi.

One of the most spectacular features is the wellness center, with in / outdoor pool, Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, caldarium, flower steam room, relax room and outdoor Jacuzzi with a view of the village and the Matterhorn. A fitness room with the latest equipment from Technogym and two massage rooms complete The Omnia's comprehensive facilities.

Zermatt offers some of the best skiing in Europe, and along with its height and position in the Alps, has snow later in the season. Ideal for all levels - the ski schools are excellent for beginners - there is plenty to test everyone. The mountain restaurants are famous, and we are more than happy to make suggestions and bookings for you. The resort also caters very well for non-skiers, with plenty of activities and a range of boutique shops and galleries.

As its name would suggest, the Roof Suite has the most amazing views through its panorama windows. The bedroom has a King size bed and the principle bathroom features a wooden bathtub. A separate bathroom has a shower and the suite has its own sauna with relax room. There is also a dressing room.

Facilities

The Omnia is luxuriously appointed with exceptional facilities. The restaurant serves a very high standard of food (something that Zermatt is famous for), using seasonal ingredients. The living areas are light and airy, with welcoming fires throughout. One of the most unusual spaces at the hotel is the Cavern - a man made cave that seemingly floats over water, and is perfect for private gatherings. The Wellness Center includes an in and outdoor pool, a Jacuzzi on the terrace with panoramic views and a fitness room with all the latest equipment. The Spa offers an impressive range of massages, and Yoga, Pilates and personal training regimes are on offer.

Activities

Zermatt is part of the Matterhorn Ski Paradise area, home to 350km of pistes, with a connection to Cervinia in Italy. There’s enough to keep skiers of all standards amused. The village itself is a pleasure to explore, whether on foot or in a horse-drawn carriage, with a wealth of shops, restaurants and historic buildings to enjoy. Exploring the mountain is also straightforward with mountain railways and some wonderful walks, whether on foot or on snowshoes. If you would like a really close view of the Matterhorn, a helicopter flight around it is truly breathtaking.

Zermatt is much more of a cultural center than many other resorts. The Matterhorn Museum is a must-see with fascinating exhibits and the English church is a highlight, especially at Christmas. Every April, the Zermatt Unplugged music festival attracts big name acts.

There are also plenty more active possibilities including the fitness center, indoor tennis and squash, gym, heli-skiing, ice skating, paragliding, stunning walking tours, gorge adventures, ice climbing and tobogganing.

Location & Directions

Zermatt, Switzerland

You can't miss The Omnia. Its location high on a rock, 45 meters above the center of Zermatt, gives it dramatic views across the valley and the Matterhorn. Guests pass through a tunnel to a lift, taking them directly to the lobby.

When to go

Zermatt offers excellent conditions throughout a long season. Skiing is well under way by early December and even late November due to high altitude glacial terrain around 4000m. As the season progresses, lower runs offer great conditions too and the skiing below 2000m is appealing when it gets really cold. By April when other resorts can be knee deep in slush, Zermatt will have the best conditions in the Alps. Check out the Zermatt Unplugged music festival in April too.
