Hotel Adriana is a stylish hotel set on the waterfront in Hvar Town, overlooking the harbor. Spring and autumn are a wonderful time to visit, when the weather is balmy and an air of tranquillity pervades the island. May and June are particularly beautiful as the spring flowers come to life and dot the hillsides of the island's rugged and beautiful interior.
In July and August when the crowds descend, Hotel Adriana becomes a welcome bolt hole, with its own private roof terrace giving a prime view of the harbor so you can enjoy Hvar's legendary atmosphere without having to battle for space.
Rooms are comfortable with clean, modern lines, intricately patterned fabrics, splashes of rich color and warm wood tones. The style is modern but not over the top and nearly all rooms have a view of the harbor and the Old Town. The Sensori spa provides a range of treatments, integrating the healing properties of local plants with the traditional remedies of massage, movement, hydrotherapy and aesthetic care to invigorate and restore the senses.
The roof terrace is the hotel's pièce de résistance and is made of a series of multilevel garden terraces which include a bar with a wrap around view of the harbor and the Old Town. There is also a seawater swimming pool enclosed by a unique canopy system which enables it to be both open air and indoor. A spacious deck surrounds the pool and is dotted with sun loungers overlooking the town, the hills and the bay.
In summer the hotel also has its own beach club, Bonj les Bains, nestled under a pine grove on the eastern shore of Amfora's small bay. Originally built in the 1930s and lovingly restored, Bonj offers private stone cabanas, individual and couples massage at Sensori Ô, sun beds, showers as well as dining and entertainment.
The 59 guest rooms and suites are stylishly decorated and all benefit from air-conditioning, television and minibar. The superior rooms are available with either city or sea views.
Children are welcome at the hotel and extra beds and cots can be provided.
The hotel's restaurant, Butchery&Wine, is led by a former contestant of MasterChef Croatia, Mario Bobanovic, who has received numerous awards for his inventive dishes. The menu offers a good selection of high quality meats, from Argentina rib eye, French Veal rack, Scottish Black Angus strip loin, to Lamb rack or Duck breast. There is also a rooftop lounge bar with beautiful views across the harbor.
While the Old Town and harbor front are the focus in Hvar, the interior is equally beautiful and relatively undiscovered, making it the perfect antidote to the summer hedonism on the coast. You can choose to hike or drive with your expert private local guide, who can help you discover the hidden gems this island has to offer. A must for foodies is lunch in an abandoned village, cooked by a local over a traditional fire with the freshest local ingredients and served in the sunshine overlooking the wooded valley towards the sea. Hvar also produces several excellent wines and there are numerous vineyards where you can spend a happy afternoon sampling the local vintage. The Old Town of Hvar is very pretty and well worth exploring, especially in the quieter months of spring and autumn. You could also choose to hire a boat and spend a day exploring the local islands.
