All year round destination. Due to its position on the equator and its altitude, Quito’s temperature varies greatly between night and day. Daytime temperatures average 23-25ºC, while at night temperatures drop to around 10ºC. In general, days are clear in the morning and cloud over in the afternoon, with rain common in the afternoon. The drier season runs from the end of May to the end September, with another brief summertime in early December (which coincides nicely with the city’s fiestas).

This renovated colonial home in Quito's historic district is traditional on the outside but reminiscent of a New York loft inside, with exposed brick & cool design features, making Carlota Boutique Hotel a great alternative choice in Ecuador's capital.
Set within a beautiful colonial house which has been transformed into a stylish, contemporary hotel, Carlota Boutique Hotel offers something a little different for guests staying in Ecuador's historic capital. The decor is fresh and cool, with plenty of exposed brick, geometric wallpaper and colorful furniture, which perfectly accents the vaulted ceilings and original architectural features.
Each of the 12 rooms is unique, its design taking inspiration from different bird species which can be found throughout Ecuador. Brujo, for instance, has grey and red accents to reflect the feathers of the brujo or 'Vermillion flycatcher'. The rooms measure between 12 and 40sqm / 129 and 430sqft, and come with a range of layouts and configurations which can be suited to couples of families. One room has bunk beds while another has a mezzanine level with a separate bedroom, making the most of the high ceilings of this historic building.
The roof terrace is the perfect space from which to enjoy an evening drink, soaking in views of the city and the Virgin of Quito statue which overlooks the city and is beautifully lit at night. There is also a small and charming bistro which serves breakfast to hotel guests only and opens up to the public daily to serve delicious lunches and dinners. For those who prefer to venture out and try the local cuisine then a number of great restaurants and bars are within easy reach.
Carlota Boutique Hotel is perfectly placed to enjoy all of Quito's historic delights, from ornate churches and gothic architecture to rich museums and colonial houses. Take a trip up on the teleferico cable car to soak in views over the entire city or even head out to the Mitad del Mundo monument on the Equator line which makes for a fun half-day trip for families.
Exposed brick, geometric wallpaper and wooden floors create a cool and modern space in each of the 12 rooms and suites which is reminiscent of New York lofts, while the traditional detailing of this historic building keep the decor in line with the Quito surroundings. Beds are comfortable and feature alpaca bedding for cosy nights. Complimentary WiFi is provided, along with flat-screen TVs and iPads on request. Skylights feature in selected rooms and 2-3 people can be accommodated. All rooms and suites are named after local bird species which can be found in Ecuador and the colors used for the decor reflect the feathers, meaning each room is unique.
The Bistro is open for breakfast to hotel guests every morning, serving up buffet style fare, and opens to the public once breakfast is finished, giving it a buzzing atmosphere.
Guests at Carlota are well located to explore the beautiful city of Quito, a World Heritage site and one of the best preserved colonial cities in the Americas, with a wealth of beautiful churches, monasteries and other historical buildings. It is possible to arrange a ride on the teleferico cable car with fantastic views over the city and the snow-capped mountains, a visit to the equatorial monument, or a trip to one of the colorful Indian markets such as Otavalo or Saquisili or the Cotopaxi volcano.
