Belize's climate is marked by two distinct seasons, the rainy season (June to November) and the dry season (December to May). The coldest month is January and the warmest temperatures are in May. The busier time of the year for travelers to Belize is November to May, which are the winter months of the Northern Hemisphere. It is possible to visit out-side of these months but the rainy season in the Forest Highlands can be rather wet. The lodge closes in September each year.
To start planning your vacation to Chan Chich
Chan Chich is a truly unique jungle, adventure and wildlife eco-lodge located on a 130,000 acre private nature reserve in northwestern Belize near Gallon Jug. Chan Chich is set in the lower plaza of an ancient Maya city and accessed by charter plane.
Chan Chich is a unique destination for eco-tourists and novices alike. The lodge has 12 thatched-roof cabanas, each of which is fully screened and fitted with queen size beds, ceiling fan and private bathroom. The guest rooms also have wrap around verandas with hammocks where guests can relax and experience the sights and sounds of the rainforest. Monkeys and countless species of birds abound in the area and can be easily spotted from the lodge, which is a true paradise for nature lovers. One may even get the chance to see an elusive jaguar in its natural habitat
The Lodge has a lovely swimming pool, Jacuzzi and miles of trails, which can be explored alone or with a guide. Other activities include night walks, drives around the estate and the plantations, horse riding, canoeing and an excursion to the Mayan site of Lamanai. After an exciting day of discovery and exploration one can relax at the Lodge with an ice-cold Belikin beer at the well-stocked bar, take a refreshing dip in the pool watching the monkeys swing by, watch the sun go down in the Jacuzzi, or just lay in your hammock, margarita in-hand.
Carefully situated in the plaza of an ancient Maya city and surrounded by pristine forest, the lodge consists of 12 individual thatched-roof cabanas and one beautifully appointed two-bedroom Villa with a plunge pool and Jacuzzi.
Children are welcome at the hotel, and babysitting can be arranged upon request, but there are no specific facilities. The two-bedroom villa is a great option for families however.
The Chan Chich offers its guests a restaurant, bar, lounge, swimming pool, Jacuzzi and gift shop.
Chan Chich offers horse riding along jungle trails, nature walks, vehicle tours, birdwatching and canoeing on Laguna Verde, a small spring-fed lake near the Gallon Jug farm.

Of all the wilderness lodges in Belize, this one impressed me most. I thought the guiding here was absolutely first rate, and the food simply magnificent. For a confirmed twitcher like me, there were some extra special sightings, and although I didn't see jaguars here, this is reputedly the best place in Central America to catch a glimpse. I also loved the fact that the ancient Mayan city in which Chan Chich stands has been left unexcavated. The shapes of pyramid temples loom out of the jungle, lending a mysterious atmosphere.
