7 Day EcoCamp W Trek - Day Six
Torres del Paine, Chile
After yesterday's strenuous activity, today offers a more gentle walk but promises to be no less thrilling thanks to stunning views of the Patagonian steppe.
In the morning, drive out towards Laguna Azul, passing the Cañadón Macho, home to many wild guanacos (similar to llamas) and ostrich-like ñandúes en route.
As you pass by the tremendous granite towers that this region is famous for, there will be time to stop for photographs and to admire the views of the Patagonian steppe. At Laguna Azul, embark on a hike to the viewpoint to be treated to gorgeous views over the lagoon and to the towers.
After lunch, drive to the northern shore of Sarmiento Lake where the Fauna Trail begins. Hiking northwards, you'll spot an impressive range of Patagonian creatures on the plains, including more guanacos and ñandús and maybe the occasional puma print, if you're very lucky. Pass some stunning, ethereal lagoons and after approximately 5km of relaxed walking, reach the Laguna Amarga ranger station where you'll be picked up and driven back to Ecocamp to toast the experience with a farewell dinner.
