Visiting Costa Navarino
Jenny, one of our Mediterranean specialists, had a whistle stop tour through the Peloponnese to the Ioanian Coast recently, here’s what she thought of Costa Navarino, a family-friendly destination in Greece including The Westin Resort and its sister resort The Romanos.

After a transfer from Athens airport down to Kalamata we started our drive through the traditional villages in the Peloponnese where village street vendors have boxes and boxes of oranges for sale on the road side. The drive continues through winding hills and coastal dunes, fragrant with olive, orange and lemon trees. The area is really stunning and having travelled directly from the more well know Island of Crete the unspoilt scenery of Greece was so refreshing.
On arrival to Costa Navarino, we were immediately taken aback by the immaculate golf courses and lush groomed vegetation. We checked into the Westin resort and immediately wanted to get our bearings within the resort so made our way to Agora. From here you can access the majority of facilities (and there are a lot!). We had a traditional Souvlaki for lunch and headed off for a walk around the resort.
One of the areas which particularly impressed us was the Sandcastle children’s club where Katherine and Anna enjoyed tapping a tune on the floor piano!
Costa Navarino has two bases for childcare; Cocoon for the little ones and Sandcastle for the older children, and they aren’t your average hotel kids clubs, the teams will keep children entertained for hours upon hours with golf, tennis, art and crafts, swimming, treasure hunts and bowling to name just a few.
For a pre-dinner drink we enjoyed a glass of the local organic wine ‘1827’ in The Westin pool bar before heading to De La Luigi for a casual Italian dinner opposite the Amphitheatre.
Even after our short stay in Costa Navarino, we can see why so many families find this destination perfect for their summer holiday. The combination of a stunning beach, an impressive kids club, two of Greece’s only eight golf courses and an array of sports and activities make this destination a winner for families of all ages.
