Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The ski season in the United States is longer than that in Europe. Most resorts open sometime in November, with Thanksgiving (the fourth Thursday in that month) being a common opening time, and stay open until mid to late April. The Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Wyoming have the highest peaks and due to the semi-arid climate, have abundant snowfall with some great powder. The exceptionally high altitude means December through to February can be extremely cold, with temperatures sometimes reaching as low as -12C, although the skiing conditions remain very good. Warmer temperatures in the Spring mean more variable skiing conditions and softer, forgiving snow.

Tivoli is family run and has a relaxed and informal ambiance. The friendly staff at the hotel are lovely and so helpful. This property only offers hotel rooms and suites and as it is not that large it gets booked up very quickly. This is a great hotel for European guests who are looking for a relaxed and slightly smaller hotel, breakfast is also included everyday.

Kate Newman (Staff)

Tivoli is more of a home away from home type of hotel with the owners always on hand to answer any questions or offer local knowledge and tips. They really do try and get to know each guest personally which is a welcome change. All of the rooms here are super comfy and offer all the facilities that you need on a ski holiday, with fully functioning kitchenettes either with mountain or village views. One of the highlights of this hotel are the discreet hot tubs which are hidden away from it all in the forest behind the hotel. The location is fantastic - just a short walk to Gondola One, the main lift, ski school, and Vail Village. At the end of the day you can even follow the trail and ski right back to the door. Last but not least, the Tivoli's resident chocolate Labrador, Indy, patrols the lobby looking for pats and of course treats!
