Honolulu is a year round destination with a tropical climate, with the very best months being April to September. Temperatures are high throughout the year but never excessive, as humidity levels are manageable. There is a rainy season from December to March which is also ironically, the tourism high season, when the scenery is at its most lush and long, hot days break up the rainy spells.

The Modern Honolulu brings Miami South Beach chic to legendary Waikiki beach. With its minimal interiors accented by splashes of colour, eco spa & food overseen by Ironchef Morimoto and chilled pool decks, the Modern will suit families and couples alike.

The Modern Honolulu sets itself apart from the other Waikiki properties both physically and metaphorically. First is its location is a few minutes stroll from the beach overlooking the yacht marina which gives it a whiff of St Tropez and secondly its strong contemporary design and clean lines which are the antithesis of the floral décor so de rigueur in Waikiki.

The lobby with its broken surfboard art installation and book case with iPads showing surfing movies which revolves at night to reveal the Study bar is an indication of the good things to come. A couple of floors down, doors lead out to the adult only Sunset pool complete with its own 'beach' and palm trees and the Sunrise pool surrounded by decking, oversized day beds and chaise longues, some of which sit in the pool itself.

For relaxed pool-side dining there is the Grove which is magically transformed at night by glittering tree lights and features live music performed by local artists. Take advantage of Waikiki's top restaurants Morimoto Waikiki overseen by award winning Ironchef Morimoto. Expect exquisite Japanese fusion dishes such as Wagyu carpaccio from the open kitchen and mouth watering sushi & nigiri using the best fish from the rich pacific waters.

In Waikiki you can't get away from high-rise and the Modern Honolulu is no exception wit its 18 floors, however height equals views and the majority of the rooms have fantastic views over the ocean. The guest rooms and suites are very South Beach - white predominates here, broken up with splashes of colour from the sarong-style bathrobes, kitsch Hawaiian prints and wooden plantation style shutters. Many of the rooms have private balconies where guests can take in sunset over the pacific.
