To start planning your holiday to The Cloister at Sea Island

The historic Cloister at Sea Island was once the playground for America's wealthy elite. Stroll the hallways and spot celebrities in traditional black and white photographs, enjoy southern tea in the lower solarium and make a splash at the beach club.

Throughout the summer, The Cloister at Sea Island is a hive of activity. From excited-filled families to romantic couples, there is an opportunity for fun at every turn.

Upon arrival at The Cloister, you will feel like you have travelled back to the golden age of Southern living, with its grand sweeping driveway and towering arched entrance. With its bright red terracotta roof and limestone tiled floors, the hotel is very Mediterranean in feel. Grand and elegant, it is almost impossible to miss why the likes of Churchill and President Coolidge brought their families here for summer vacations. Not only politicians came in search for some sun-soaking, but also celebrities, and guests of today are encouraged to stroll the hallways, keeping an eye out for the A-listers they may spot behind the camera, playing croquet or planting oak trees. You can even explore the resort on a fully guided tour with the resident historian, Wheeler Bryan who will tell tales of all those who have been here previously.

The Cloister at Sea Island is the perfect spot for families and the design has been carefully thought out in order to encourage social gatherings. From the original and iconic Spanish Lounge where guests can begin their day with fresh pastries, to the Coy Pond, the library and the Cigar Lounge, families and friends are certainly well catered for.

Kids will be kept entertained for hours, with a fully service kids camp, a nature programme where they can discover marine residents of the Golden Isles, five miles of glorious pristine beach and bicycle rental. Adults will love retreating to the amazing spa, hidden just a few blocks back from the beach club. Opening up to a huge glistening water feature, guests will instantly feel relaxed and ready to unwind - the perfect antidote to a day spent beach combing or exploring on bicycle.
