Zermatlantis in Zermatt

A visit to the museum is a must for every visitor to Zermatt. Under the glass dome of the former casino, next to the village church, a sunken world has been opened up underground: Zermatlantis. Walk through the history of Zermatt, from its farmers scratching a living from the mountain pastures, to the first ascent of the mighty Matterhorn. The village was once a few mountain huts - as can be seen just round the corner, and is now an internationally renowned ski resort. The museum arranges special exhibitions on a regular basis and has established itself as a centre for cultural performances.
