West Coast National Park
Cape Town, South Africa
Surrounded by the Langebaan Lagoon, this pristine wetland offers exceptional bird life, spring flowers and white beaches.
A major wetland of international importance, the West Coast National Park is famed for the thousands of migrating birds which spend winter in the lagoon, with September being the peak season. Over 250 bird species have been recorded here. If you are lucky, you may also be able to spot Eland, Cape Gemsbok, Rock Hyrax, Caracal and Red Hartebeest.
Although the bird life is the primary draw, spring time is exceptional with abundant flowering plants sprouting on granite and limestone rocks, creating a tapestry of multi-hued flowers
