District Six Museum
Cape Town, South Africa
Discovery the heart-tugging history of the community evicted from District Six during the time of apartheid.
The District Six Museum is an insightful account into a once vibrant community of merchants, artisans, labourers and immigrants. In 1966 District Six was declared a "white group area" by the National Party government, causing thousands of coloured residents to be forced out into a periphery area known as the Cape Flats, while the community buildings and home were demolished.
