The incredibly history which began in 1866 has now left a legacy in the form of an extraordinary Big Hole, renowned as the world's largest man-made excavation. Ever since, the Big Hole has transformed into an interactive tourist experience, providing a recreational insight into the underground world.
Right next to the Big Hole is the insightful Diamond Mine Museum, which houses interesting exhibits including an 1877 hourse, Barney Barnato's boxing academy, a skittle alley, a traditional pub called "Digger's Rest", De Beers railway coach, mock diamond diggings, as well as a reconstruction of the famous De Beers homestead.
