Shimla's salubrious climate helps make it a year-round destination. Though Shimla has pleasant climate throughout the year, it experiences cold winters. The temperatures can drop to sub-zero conditions during the peak winter season. The best time to visit Shimla would be October to November and from March to May. It is advisable not to visit Shimla during monsoons as the place has a history of having landslides every now and then.

Built in 1884, the Oberoi Cecil was refurbished and restored in 1997 to become the predominant hotel in Shimla. It contains elegant interiors and period furniture and is ideally located for exploring Shimla’s colonial past and experience its Himalayan delights.
Most of the 79 rooms and suites at the Oberoi Cecil have valley or mountain views, decorated classically with polished wood and brass and with all modern amenities, expected with a member of the Oberoi portfolio. Quite simply, the best address in town. You can walk from the Cecil along the Mall so it is great for those wanting to explore the city on foot. Inside, the rooms are superb, and always try to get a room looking down the valley as the views are sublime.
