The Sonesta Posadas del Inca is a charming historic hotel in Yucay in Peru’s Sacred Valley. A converted eighteenth-century monastery, the Posadas del Inca offers plenty of atmosphere and comfortable, inexpensive rooms in a peaceful garden setting.

An hour’s drive from ancient Cusco in the heart of the Sacred Valley, the Sonesta Posadas del Inca has 87 spacious and well-appointed guest rooms, all individually designed and most boasting stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Featuring hardwood floors and stone walls, each room comes with air-conditioning, a TV and an en-suite bathroom.

Savour grilled meats and innovative Novo-Andean cuisine that uses many local ingredients in a relaxed garden atmosphere at Sonesta’s Inkafé Restaurant, and there are plenty of other amenities including a gym, a sauna, outdoor Jacuzzi and the Kallpa Wasi Spa.

The Sacred Valley is substantially lower than Cusco, and you can enjoy warmer temperatures and abundant sunshine that make activities such as horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking and rafting extremely pleasant. Near the Sonesta are the craft markets of Pisac and Chinchero, the multi-coloured salt lagoons of Maras, the ruins of Ollantaytambo, and it makes an appealing place to relax before or after visiting Machu Picchu.
