Are your Peru tours private or escorted?

Scott Dunn offers primarily private tours led by local experts. Our escorted tours in Peru are designed to showcase hidden gems and must-see sights, creating an unforgettable experience. When you choose Scott Dunn, we'll provide you with private guides who have expert knowledge of the area you're visiting. They're on hand during your stay when you need them.
When is the best time to go to Peru?

The seasons in Peru are the opposite of those in the UK, which means that spring and summer occur during the UK's autumn and winter. However, Peru also has wet and dry seasons. The dry season typically runs from May to October and is the most popular time for visitors. The rainy months coincide with Peru's summer, running from December to February. The highest chance of rain is in January and February, so it's usually quieter during this time of year.

We know you want a trip that you'll remember forever. While there are plenty of opportunities to take a Peru tour throughout the year, there are some months that might be especially appealing. April and May, for instance, are just out of the rainy season and usually quieter. The crowds also disappear in October and November as the rainy season approaches.

Find out more about the best time to tour Peru.
When is the best time to visit Machu Picchu?

Machu Picchu can be visited year-round. But as May to October is the dry season, these are the most popular months to take a trip to the Inca citadel, with June, July and August being the busiest.
Can I combine Peru with other destinations, like the Galapagos or Bolivia?

Yes, Scott Dunn offers luxury Peru holiday itineraries that combine with destinations like Bolivia and the Galapagos in our Epic Peru & Bolivia and Ultimate Peru & Galapagos packages.
What are the must-see destinations on a Peru tour?

Peru is filled with extraordinary places to explore. The iconic Machu Picchu tops most lists, and the nearby Sacred Valley is a delight to explore with its charming villages and craft market scene. Stops in cities like Lima and Cusco are must-do’s for history fans and to get a taste of some of the country’s best culinary offerings. Excursions into the Peruvian Amazon rainforest on guided tours are also popular.
