Iquitos
As a gateway to the northern Peruvian Amazon, Iquitos is a sprawling city, but one accessible only by boat or plane, adding an extra sense of adventure to your Amazonian experience. Grand mansions sit alongside rusty tin-roofed shacks, and all around the city, dense emerald-green rainforest spreads out as far as the eye can see.
